The Dottie family standing together in front of their suburban home at golden hour

The Dottie Family

Ordinary family. Everyday chaos.

Two working parents. Two growing kids. One very ordinary home.

Amy

The one keeping track

Amy Dottie 39 Dental receptionist

Amy spends her days managing appointments and her evenings remembering everyone else's plans. She loves her family. She would also love someone else to plan Sunday.

“When were you going to tell me?”

Current wish: one day she doesn't have to organize.

It’ll take ten minutes

Mark Dottie 42 Hardware store department supervisor

Mark knows his way around a hardware store and most things around the house. There's a shelf in the garage he'll put up this weekend. Probably.

“Let me take a look first.”

Current project: that shelf.

In a minute

Ethan Dottie 14 High school freshman

Ethan is saving for a better computer, figuring out high school, and asking everyone to knock before entering. He acts like his little sister is annoying. He still looks out for her.

“Yeah. In a minute.”

Current goal: a better computer.

Can we get a dog?

Lucy Dottie 9 Fourth grader

Lucy draws, collects stickers, and remembers every promise. She's preparing a very serious case for getting a dog. The rainy-morning walks are still under discussion.

“If he can, why can't I?”

Current mission: convince everyone about the dog.

Our Story

Nothing extraordinary. Plenty going on.

The Dotties live just outside Columbus, Ohio. They work, go to school, pay the bills, and try to find a little time together. The garage shelf can wait. Dinner can't.

Dottie Moments

Sounds like your house?

  • Mark: “Ten minutes.”

Amy: “You said that last Sunday.”

  • Lucy: “I made a list of reasons we need a dog.”

Ethan: “Did the dog make one too?”

  • Amy: “Everyone's making their own breakfast today.”

    Mark: “Does cereal count?”

Sounds familiar?
